| Abstract: | This paper describes the whole story of the HL7/XML Referral Standard locally constructed in Taiwan. It tells how we transplant the original HL7 standard into a standard for Taiwan. We also implement the prototype system and integrate it with an on-line Hospital Information System (HIS) through an HL7 Interface Engine (HL7-IE) to manage the referral patients. This system has been implemented at National Taiwan University Hospital ( NTUH) with her allied branch hospitals, local hospitals, and clinics. The software reuse and deployment experiences of this system construction have become the national experiences in Taiwan and we believe it will deeply impact our medical informatics society, too. |
